My own version of Esquire's suggestions to make the world a better place
Obviously, I believe in causes such as making AIDS medication available to those who can't afford it, providing all children with quality education, protecting the environment and endangered species, developing alternative sources of energy, and canceling the debt of developing countries. But this list isn't about such pursuits. It's about the little changes that can help make life (in this metropolis and in general) a little more bearable.
1. Employers should instruct their employees never to say "Regarding saan ito?" when answering the phone. It's rude and it bugs the h*ll out of me. I'm still trying to think of a response that is still polite but at the same time, communicates that I don't appreciate being harassed.
2. I agree with Esquire, iPod to iPod file sharing. :0)
3. Everyone who has their driver's license renewed must undergo and pass a REAL test (with written and practical parts). Walang kotong. If you don't pass, then you don't get to drive 'til you learn how to do so like a civilized, educated urban dweller.
4. No more city buses. Tapusin na kasi ang mga linya ng MRT at LRT.
5. Ban candy pop and crappy novelty songs. Anyone who says "Kailangan pa bang i-memorize 'yan?" should be fined PhP50,000. Proceeds will go to funding proper music education classes for public school children. Close down crap radio stations. They should be elevating the masa, not feeding their minds more crap music day in and day out.
6. Open more Chimara branches. I'm hardly ever in Greenbelt so it'd be cool if they opened branches in Quezon City and the Ortigas area.
7. No more lining up at big banks! Going to iBank is so pleasant because when you walk in, you go straight to the teller and hand over your ID and check or whatever, then she politely asks you to be seated 'til they call your name. While they tend to your transaction, you can sit on a couch and browse through a magazine or daily. Sarap 'diba? As opposed to two of the countries largest banks that make you stand in line for ages! And they say the customer comes first. Whatever!
